I ALWAYS HAVE TO smile a little when I read heroic Land Rover tales; the letter from Michael Powell in Octane 146 brought back memories of a drive round the Mediterranean that I made in 1965 with a friend from art college. Donald knew absolutely nothing about cars and couldn’t drive but was very well informed about weed, so spent a lot of the trip quite ‘relaxed’ until we met a group of French 20-year-old female students on the boat to Lebanon!
