TIM, 53, WAS BORN and raised in Kent. A er schoolboy Motocross and karting, in 1983 he started racing Formula Fords and won a scholarship to race in the MG Metro Challenge for ’84 and ’85. A er breaking his ankles in a Formula Ford accident in ’86 he steered towards Touring Cars and turned professional in 1987, racing Rover Vitesses and Ford Sierra Cosworths, and won the ’89 Macau GP. He won the BRDC British Sportscar Championship in ’88 and ’89, competed in four Le Mans 24 Hours and in the World Championship with Spice in 1990, then raced Super Touring BMWs in 1991, winning the British Championship in ’92.
