Perfumers are blending chemistry and creativity to craft beautifully evocative, curiously alluring fragrances.

IT’S EASY TO understand the appeal of a floral or citrus scent. But molten metal? Or…latex? Odd as it sounds, unconventional fragrances like these are an intriguing new trend, popping up in the lines of perfumers with a nose for the unexpected. Take Vio-Volta, by Brooklyn-based D.S. & Durga.
