As a pimply faced 14-year-old dreaming of building a prostreet VK for my first car, I can recall gas prices nearing the one dollar mark and thinking, ‘Man, when I’m old enough to get my license gas is going to be over a dollar a litre — damn.’ And as soon as I hit 15, got my license and a car, I became a slave to the pump, working my $4.50 an hour afterschool supermarket gig to blow damn near my whole paycheck just on gas — and I loved every minute of it. Roll on a couple of decades and yesterday I drove into the local gassy, put on my mask, plugged in my card details, and let the pump fly only to then nearly choke on my lunch…
