MEET THE AMERICANS It was raining the day Michael and Michelle came to stay at Chez Dick in Oamaru. But that didn’t matter; they were Americans who lived on Puget Sound in the State of Washington, which means similar sort of weather to the lower part of the South Island. I was impressed when I learned they made their booking with us from the comfort of the Steampunk-themed bar at Scott’s Brewery in the Oamaru Precinct. And they were sitting over a pint of the Scott’s brewed IPA which is only one octane rating short of rocket-fuel. That’s the casual approach to life I like.
