LIVING THE DREAM
It is said that if you do what you love, you will never work a day in your life. The quote is attributed to American singer–songwriter Marc Anthony, who was born in 1968. Half a world away, New Zealand author and illustrator Nikki Slade Robinson (also born in 1968) is the living embodiment of that sentiment. Nikki is one of this country’s most prolific author/illustrators, and her enormous contribution to children’s literature has seen her win numerous prestigious awards over the years. These include two Notable Book awards (in 2016 and 2017); the New Zealand Children’s Art House Foundation award for the Artist Most Supporting Children 2017; and the 2016 NZ Book Awards for Children and Young Adults, Best Picture Book category winner for The Little Kiwi’s Matariki.
