'Amy wants something Special to happen'

'Amy wants something Special to happen'
Wedding planner Amy Kenyon is nervously waiting in an elegant white gown as a make-up artist makes the final touches to her face. Not only is the 27-year-old about to get married - she's going to meet her husband for the first time at the end of the aisle at a wedding she hasn't planned.
Blackburn-based Amy is the latest bride to appear in Married At First Sight UK's current series, joining the cast as a late arrival. As new tags along for her exciting wedding day, Amy says it's been "amazing" to hand over wedding planning responsibility to the show's team.
"I've seen from experience that planning a wedding as a bride is very stressful, but imagine planning a wedding to somebody you don't know," she says in her dressing room at Luton Hoo Hotel in Bedfordshire - just metres away from her mysterious groom.

"It's been really nice." After finding herself in "dire" relationships, Amy signed up to MAFS UK in the hope of finding a husband outside of the "narcissistic" type she usually ends up with. "I go for the type of person who doesn't usually have a personality - they have the personality of a pencil," she says. "They've got nothing inside.
I always seem to be with quite controlling people and I'm easily manipulated because I trust everything that everybody says, so hopefully I'll find someone nice." As someone who says she rarely goes out, it's been hard for Amy to meet potential suitors.
"I sound like a loner but I don't really go out a lot," she says.

"I like to spend my time going on holiday and I work all the time so it's difficult to meet somebody.
I think I just expect someone to knock on my door and ask me on a date, so maybe someone else helping me find the man of my dreams would work instead." While Amy is anxious to meet her husband-to-be, she's even more worried about how her mum will react. "She was fuming when I told her I was going on MAFS," Amy says. "I think she's still fuming now. My dad was shocked but he's happy for me and trusting in the process. But my brother Jason is fully for it."
Jason is 15 years older than his half-sister and couldn't be more proud of her. "Amy does her own thing," he tells new. "This isn't a route we would have expected her to go down but she's dived in with both feet and I think it's a brilliant experience for her."

Jason is hoping Amy will settle down with her new husband, revealing that she's secretly a party girl. "I'll ring her and she'll be in Belgium seeing a DJ," he says. "She's had all sorts of jobs, from car sales to wedding planning. She has never reached that point in life where she's found her path and I think she just wants something really special to happen - it's the same with her relationships.
"I know superficially she wants her husband to be tall, dark and handsome, but I think she needs someone who's going to ground her - someone who will rein her in a bit and go for walks around the countryside on a Sunday afternoon with a dog. She'll never say that out loud, but I think she wants that more than anything." As for what Amy asked the experts for, she admits she's "really fussy" when it comes to love. "I'm quite tall - 5ft 7in - so if I had someone shorter than me, that would be a problem," she says. "I want someone who's a gentleman and cares about me as much as I care about them." Selfishness is a turn-off for Amy, but the deal-breaker comes in the form of her little ...
