'He'd love to find The One'

'He'd love to find The One'
When Pete Wicks and Maura Higgins split before Valentine's Day, there were some who perhaps weren't too surprised. Pete, 37, had been linked to the Irish Love Island beauty for a few months. Maura, 34, even opened up about her strong feelings for Pete in I'm A Celebrity... as she told campmates she was finally "happy with a new connection".
And a source has now claimed to new that, although charismatic Pete has admitted he has difficulties holding down a long-term relationship, there is nothing he'd like more.
"Pete really did adore Maura - but sometimes, relationships simply just don't work out. He's in a really great place, after his turn on Strictly and with his UKTV show, Pete Wicks: For Dogs' Sake getting amazing ratings. He was even in parliament recently, giving an impassioned speech at the relaunch of the Humane World for Animals charity, a cause he feels so passionate about. And yes, Pete really would love to find The One and settle down - it would be the icing on the cake for him."

Pete has had a famously colourful love life, with a string of high-profile former flames. His longest relationship was with his TOWIE co-star Megan McKenna, who he dated in 2016, but they split after a year and a half.
Pete has spoken previously about his commitment issues. On Loose Women, he recently confessed, "I'm well known for being a bit of a commitment-phobe, I've never hidden that fact. There are loads of reasons why.
"I think everyone assumes that you have to commit and society tells us you have to be married and you have to have kids and do all this sort of stuff by a certain age."
He added, "I'm heading towards 40 and I'm not married and I do think people kind of have a bit of a stigma against that, but I think it's just been my choice to do that.
"There've been so many things that I've wanted to do over the years and I have not got the best role models in terms of happy relationships. I think that probably affects my view on it."
Pete is very close to his mum Tracy and had a famously tight bond with his late nan, Doreen. But someone noticeably absent from his life is his estranged father, Trevor, who walked out of the family home when Pete was around 11. Trevor eventually moved to Doha, Qatar, where he settled with his Filipino wife of nearly 11 years, Maria. It's something that seems to have affected Pete deeply. Speaking to Jamie Laing on his Private Parts podcast last year, Pete said, "I don't speak to him at all. My dad's not a bad person. We just don't have a relationship and that's the way the cookie crumbles sometimes. Not much I can do about it."
In his autobiography, Never Enough, Pete revealed the pair were once close during his childhood in East London and Essex. "My main goal in my life was to make my dad proud," he said. "I played every sport in the book, a...
