‘I've got three daddy's girls!'

‘I've got three daddy's girls!'
Back in 2016, Casey Batchelor was enjoying the single life and juggling a busy modelling career with TV appearances. Fast forward five years and the former Celebrity Big Brother star is doing a different kind of balancing act!
The fitness guru recently welcomed her third child with fiancé Dane Goodson – and the couple are now proud parents to “three little princesses”.
Exclusively introducing her latest bundle of joy to new, Casey reveals she and Dane have named their daughter Daisy. The tot arrived via elective C-section on 3 June at 11.30am, weighing 7lbs 14oz. And her big sisters, Florence, three, and Sadie, 16 months, already sound like they’re besotted.
But Casey is the first to admit that having three children aged three and under isn’t always smooth sailing.
“It’s really full-on and I don’t sit down!” she explains. But she adds with a smile, “It’s crazy but it really is so lovely.”
Here, the 36-year-old tells new about Daisy’s “complicated” arrival, learning to appreciate her postpartum body, and why she and Dane have already discussed having a fourth child…

Hi, Casey! How does it feel to be a mum of three girls?
Ha! How did that happen? It’s crazy but it really is so lovely. The more I think about it, the more I think it’s so magical. I have two older brothers and I would have loved a sister because they’re your best mates when you grow up. It will be the Goodson sisters and they’ll always have each other. And because they’re so close in age that makes it more special. I can’t wait for the trips to Disneyland!
How have you coped, juggling the three of them?
It’s been tough. It’s really full-on and I don’t sit down. But I’ve got a lot of help and Dane is really hands-on, which is great. Dane and I have been together for five years now and in five years we’ve moved three times, bought a house together, got engaged and had three children. That’s just crazy!
You’ve packed a lot in! How does Dane feel about having another little girl?
He is so outnumbered, bless him! But I say to him, “A girl is for life and a boy is until he finds a wife.” The girls will always be there for us and I feel like girls are closer to their family. Flo is such a daddy’s girl and now Sadie is turning into one too. They’re probably going to be three massive daddy’s girls.
You knew you were having a girl, so did you pick the name Daisy before she was born?
No, we couldn’t find a name. Dane kept saying no to all my suggestions. He hates it when people choose really unusual and different names. I was suggesting more out-there names and he was like, “No, you’re not a Kardashian so don’t try and be like one!” [Laughs] I was looking through lists of old-fashioned names on Google, as that’s what we both like, and Daisy came up. I said, “What about Daisy?” and he said, “I love it!” I think all the girls’ names go really well together.

What were the out-there names you liked?
Sayler – that’s how they spell it in America. But Dane said no. I also really liked Pixie but Dane said no to that too.
Tell us about the birth…
I had an elective C-section. I had a natural birth with Florence and that was really traumatic and awful. They needed to use forceps and I had an epidural and it punctured my spine. Then I got awful migraines and brain fluid leakage for weeks. I had a C-section with Sadie and Daisy as I didn’t want to go through that again. But the C-section this time around was much more complicated.
What happened?
She didn’t want to come out. They have to put pressure on you to replicate what would happen when a baby is born naturally through the birthing canal, but Dane was standing next to the assistant who was putting pressure on me and he said she was putting her whole body weight on me and coming off the floor. Basically she was jumping on me! And Daisy still wasn’t coming out. That was a bit worrying, but thankfully she came out eventually. Then, when they were stitching me up, I felt like someone was stamping on my chest and my heart. I couldn’t breathe properly. They had to give me more drugs – I think it was morphine – because my nervous system had gone into shock. My heart and chest felt like they were caving in. That was tough and really scary.
We’re glad you were OK! Did Dane watch the operation itself?
No! Dane is really squeamish. The room was really cold as the heater wasn’t working so they said if it was OK with us they would take the baby straight into the corridor when she arrived where it was warmer and wrap her in towels, and Dane could go with her, and then he’d bring her in to me. When Dane came back with her I was open with basically all my insides hanging out and he was heaving and having to look away!

How has your recovery been?
I feel amazing now. With Sadie I recovered well but I was very bruised and swollen, but this time I’m not taking any painkillers and I’m doing well and sleeping well, so I’m in a really happy place. Of course, I was a little bit sore for the first few days, but after that I felt great.
That’s good to hear. And how is Daisy getting on?
She’s such a good baby and so content. On the ward all the other babies were screaming and crying and she slept through it all. She’s already doing three to four hour sleeps at night. I’m waiting for it to change! We had a little scare in the hospital and they thought she might have jaundice and need to go in an incubator, but thankfully we were allowed home. They had to do some blood tests with her and they were horrible. They have to squeeze the baby’s foot to get the blood and it’s awful because you think it’s going to break! Daisy is very different to how Florence was. She was a very challenging baby, I don’t think I slept for a whole year with her! We got into the habit where she wouldn’t fall asleep unless I was rocking her and it took 40 minutes – I’d be up three times a night doing that. I was surprised we had another after Florence as it was so tough!

How have Florence and Sadie adjusted to their new sister?
Sadie doesn’t have a clue, she tries to climb into the Moses basket and thinks it funny, but Florence absolute dotes on her. It’s so cute because when Sadie was born Florence ignored Sadie and didn’t want anything to do with her. She also completely ignored me and would literally turn her back on me. I was worried about how it would be this time, but now she’s completely different. She absolutely loves Daisy and gives her kisses on her head and wants to cuddle her. It really does melt your heart. Your heart just grows with each child.
Do you feel you can divide your time equally between them all?
I still get massive mum guilt at times, especially at the moment because I can’t pick them up due to my C-section. They put their arms up to me and that’s really difficult. I also feel guilty as I wonder if I’m spending enough time with Florence and Sadie, as Daisy takes up a lot of my day. I don’t want them to feel pushed out like Florence did when Sadie arrived. I’m making a conscious effort to be with them all.

We’re sure you’re doing a great job! How are you feeling about Dane going back to work?
It’s going to be a bit full-on but I know I’ll manage. He took three weeks off and he’s been doing bits from home. But I feel like it was harder going from one to two than two to three. Dane looks after the girls in the night as Sadie is teething, and gets up with them in the morning, and I sleep in the spare...
