The ex-Blue Peter presenter has been busy in lockdown, as she’s homeschooling Covey, eight, and Huxley, six. “I’ve been doing homeschooling videos where we’ve been baking,” she tells us. “Lockdown has flown by – it’s like being in a different dimension in a time warp.”
Although she’s been occupied with her kids, Konnie’s still enjoyed quality time with Charlie, 49, who’s best known for creating the drama Black Mirror and his satirical TV Wipe specials. The couple will be celebrating 10 years of marriage in July after tying the knot in Las Vegas. She says they haven’t got anything planned for the milestone, but admits they wouldn’t rule out renewing their wedding vows.
Here, Konnie, 44, lifts the lid on working with her other half, her Blue Peter days and what she’s missed most during lockdown…
Hi Konnie! How have you been coping over the past few weeks?
It’s surreal, but I like to think I’m coping. But I will say I’m finding homeschooling a barrel of laughs!
Are you finding it stressful?
My oldest son asks, “What’s on the timetable next?” He’s so conscientious he gets worried if something’s not on the timetable. But with my youngest, I’m literally trying to get him to do anything.
Do the boys have different personalities?
It’s funny, they’re both different even though we’ve brought them up the same. The eldest is more of a worrier and the little one is like, “Whatever.”
How are you finding all being at home together?
The kids are used to running around and being in the playground with their friends, but it’s not been too bad. Touch wood, I don’t think it feels as bad as it could have been.

Have there been any arguments in the Brooker household?
No, but I tell you what we have had – injuries! I’ve had really bad toothache, to the point where I was like, “I’m going to need a root canal.” Then I pricked my hand on some sort of thorn in the garden. It was swollen for a week. I looked it up on the internet and it said I might need an operation. Luckily, it didn’t come to that! And then Charlie knocked his head and had mild concussion for a bit. We’ve had all these calamities – the one time when you don’t want to go to a hospital or a doctor!
Sounds eventful! What have you missed most in lockdown?
I can’t wait to go on a day out somewhere with the family. And to see friends in the flesh. That’s what I’m most looking forward to.
Have you and Charlie managed to find some time for yourselves during lockdown?
Yeah. He’s got me into a game called Tetris Effect. We play it on the TV. He’s been really addicted and now he’s got me addicted. And then we’ve been binge-watching boxsets and Netflix.
It will be your 10th wedding anniversary in July. Do you have any plans to celebrate?
We don’t. We need to get thinking. It’s flown by!
You got married in Las Vegas – would you consider renewing your vows?
There’s some controversy as to whether the paperwork was sent off so that’s something ...
