‘David is my everything’

‘David is my everything’
Offering an unusually candid insight into her life in the spotlight, Spice Girl turned fashion designer and mum-of-four Victoria Beckham has opened up to Vogue Australia. The artist formerly known as Posh spilled the beans on everything from her handbag collection and slightly bonkers beauty routine to why she’s keeping daughter Harper away from social media. Here are nine things you need to know...

ONE WORKOUT JUST ISN’T ENOUGH
Waking at 6.45am, Victoria starts her day with a 30-minute uphill run on the treadmill in her at-home gym. She then drops off 11-year-old Harper at school before indulging in a “gruelling one-hour weights session with her personal trainer”. We’re tired just reading all that, Posh!

SHE’S SOLD HER WAG WARDROBE
Victoria parted ways with her WAG persona long ago, and has sold her early 2000s outfits for charity. Her wardrobe sale included the infamous “England Rocks” vest top she wore at the BadenBaden World Cup in 2006.
But ever the fashionista, she’s held on to the Hermès Birkin collection she amassed. “I don’t really miss those outfits, but those Birkins stand the test of time,” she says.

POSH ISN’T ASHAMED OF HER PAST
Although she might cringe when looking back at some of her Spice Girls style choices – remember the peroxide pixie cut? – Victoria appreciates she wouldn’t be where she is today if it wasn’t for her time in the band.
“It’s a double-edged sword, but I will never complain about it,” she admits. “Can it be frustrating sometimes? Absolutely. But it can also go in my favour… How many other brands have the luxury of getting the attention when they want it?”
ON HER WEIGHT
Worryingly, Victoria’s body has been the subject of debate throughout her career, with headlines such as “Porky Posh” and “Skeletal
Posh”. The designer recalls being weighed on TV show TFI Friday just after her first pregnancy.
“I’d just had Brooklyn and lost a lot of weight after. [Chris Evans] made me stand on scales and be weighed. Can you imagine doing that nowadays?”

ALL OR NOTHING
Her husband, ex-England footballer David, recently spoke about how his wife rarely deviates from a dinner of grilled fish and steamed vegetables. But Victoria insists she isn’t that boring.
“What he meant is that he’s never met anyone who’s more disciplined. I eat lots of healthy fat: fish, avocado, nuts, that sort of thing… I’m quite extreme in anything I do, whether it’s eating or working out or drinking or not drinking.”...
