'It's not going to be sexy Maura on I'm A Celeb'

'It's not going to be sexy Maura on I'm A Celeb'
She caused a splash as a bombshell on Love Island and Maura Higgins reckons she definitely won’t be the sexy late arrival in this year’s I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! as she insists that viewers will see other aspects of her personality.
Speaking to new ahead of her stint in the jungle, Maura warns that she doesn’t look good without fake tan on as she prepares to adopt the natural look on the show.
Asked if she would be packing plenty of bikinis to follow in the footsteps of Myleene Klass’ iconic shower scene, Maura, 34, says, “I won’t have my fake tan. Honestly, I look like a corpse without it. No one will need to look at that. It’s not going to be sexy Maura in the jungle. People are going to get a very different side. But it will be nice to strip back – and I am excited to have a phone detox.”
Maura has been at the centre of a romantic riddle in recent months with things seemingly hotting up between her and Strictly star Pete Wicks. They’ve been spotted snogging in the street and getting very cosy on several nights out together.
But when quizzed if she is dating him, just before she flies to Australia to enter camp, Maura insists she is single. “I mean, I date but I’m very much single,” she says. “And honestly, I just think the interest in my dating life is so boring. Everyone goes on dates, but then you’re like, ‘Maura’s in a relationship with this person, this person…’”

Asked whether she’d been on a date with Pete or not, she chuckles and says, “I mean, I’ve been on a date with many people.”
Maura is prepared to admit she is incredibly nervous about what lies ahead on I’m A Celeb. She says her mum, Sharon, even suggested getting hypnotised beforehand to get through the trials. “I’m scared of everything,” she says. “My mammy has always told me the jungle is one show I could never do and so [on hearing the news] she did say to me, ‘I think you need to get yourself hypnotised!’ But I don’t want to do that. If I do a trial, I could then say, ‘Oh well, I only did that because I was hypnotised.’ I want to do it because I was brave enough to do it. I am very hard on myself – I don’t want the help.”
Despite the terrifying trials that she could face, the excited reality star says she can’t quite believe she has been asked to take part in the hugely popular ITV show. It was in 2019 that Maura first found fame on Love Island. She reached the final coupled up with Curtis Pritchard, only for the pair to split up several months later. Since then, she’s competed in Dancing On Ice and presented an agony aunt segment on This Morning, as well as launching her own fashion range. She has also dated a string of famous faces including former Strictly professional dancer, Giovanni Pernice.
Whether she will open up about her previous relationships and the mystery surrounding Pete during her time around the campfire is something Maura is keeping a closely guarded secret today. But she says she’s very excited that she’ll soon be sitting in the camp alongside some of the other famous faces, which include Coleen ...
