'I am so looking forward to Christmas'

'I am so looking forward to Christmas'
With an exciting new romance, a busy career and three adorable children, Helen Flanagan has plenty to be grateful for this upcoming festive season. And when she catches up with new for a chat at the opening of Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland, the 34-year-old is certainly in the Christmas spirit.
“I am so looking forward to Christmas,” beams Helen, who is accompanied on the red carpet by her eldest daughter, Matilda. The former Coronation Street actress shares nine-year-old Matilda, Delilah, six, and Charlie, three, with her former fiancé, Bristol Rovers footballer Scott Sinclair, and says the pair will be co-parenting over the festive period.
“I’ve got the kids this Christmas and we’re going to my mum’s. We take turns, so you’re with Mummy and Grandma this year, aren’t you?” she says, turning to Matilda. “And then you’re with Daddy for New Year, so [Scott will] have them then.”
“We don’t really have any family traditions that we do, every Christmas has been quite different for the kids. Especially because of their dad’s football, it can be busy around this time of year,” says Helen.

This year marks Helen’s first Christmas with her former footballer boyfriend Robbie Talbot. The couple went public with their relationship this summer while Helen was – controversially – still appearing on Celebs Go Dating. Robbie, 45, has two daughters, Sophie, 14, and Carina, 10, from a previous relationship, so the couple will be blending families for the big day. “I think Robbie has his girls in the morning and then he’s going to come to my mum’s for Christmas lunch, later on.”
When we ask what’s on the family’s Christmas list this year, Matilda sweetly declares that she’s hoping for some ice skating lessons. “She also wants a phone,” chimes in Helen, who turns to her daughter to say, “But me and Daddy need to chat about that one and decide if you can have one or not, we aren’t sure!”
Nodding, Matilda adds, “The thing I really want for Christmas is to spend time with my family.”

After Christmas, of course, follows a brand new year, and Helen tells us she is feeling positive about what lies ahead – something she admits wasn’t the case this time last year. “I’m feeling quite positive about 2025, I wasn’t positive about 2024 but it turned out quite good,” she laughs, clearly alluding to meeting her new man. Last New Year’s Eve saw Helen suffering with her mental health, which spiralled into her having a bad reaction to ADHD medication and going into full-blown psychosis. At the time, Helen admitted she was feeling “really terrible” over Christmas and New Year following her separation from Scott after 13 years together. She explained, “I was emotionally struggling w...
