‘RONAN’S THE BIGGEST RHOC FAN’

‘RONAN’S THE BIGGEST RHOC FAN’
Like the rest of the boy-band-loving nation, we couldn’t put into Words how excited we were to hear that Boyzone’s Shane Lynch was joining the cast of The Real Housewives Of Cheshire alongside his wife of 15 years, Sheena.
And as we try not to envy the couple when we speak to them from their sun-soaked Portugal family holiday, 43-year-old Sheena tells us she feels “more confident” as she returns to the show for a second series, with her husband now in tow.
“I know the girls a bit more, so it is different from that angle,” she says. “I’ve definitely got a closer relationship with the other girls. I’m having a really good time.”
After almost 30 years in showbiz, 46-year-old Shane admits he’s numb to the drama of the show, which regularly includes explosive rows between the ladies.
“I think friendships are just heightened in many situations. I think it’s an interesting group of friends,” he muses.
Here, the couple, who are parents to Billie, 13, and Marley, nine, tease the “growth” viewers will see the Housewives go through this series, and Shane spills the advice he’d give to Ronan Keating’s son Jack after his spell on Love Island...
What made you decide to join The Real Housewives Of Cheshire last year, Sheena?
I set myself a challenge when lockdown first happened. I was at home and reflecting on all of the opportunities that I’d turned down before and I was like, “Right, when the world opens back up, whatever lands on my door next, I’m doing it.” And this was it!
Have you made friends with the girls since coming in as the new girl?
I’m on really good terms with all of the girls. There’s nobody I don’t get on with. I’m probably a little bit closer to Lystra [Adams]. We spend time together away from the show and speak on the phone quite often.
There was a lot of drama in the reunion episode of the last season. Are tensions still running high this season?
You know the show, there’s always drama. Viewers can expect lots of drama but also a lot of growth. The girls do make up too, but then we fall out again. It’s the same fantastic format as always.

Shane, what do you make of all of the drama between the Housewives?
I don’t think the word is drama, I think friendships are just heightened in many situations. Sheena comes home and discusses the days spent with the girls and what happens, but being on the other side of it I do think it’s an interesting group of friends.

Do the other members of Boyzone watch? What has their reaction to it been?
Ronan’s the biggest fan of the show I think. He calls me after every episode and asks about everything.
Could we see a Real Housewives Of Boyzone spin-off?
We tried to do something years ago. I don’t think you’ll see us back on telly like that.
Ronan’s son Jack recently appeared on Love Island. You appeared on the celeb version back in 2006, did you give him any advice?
I didn’t even know! You’re not allowed to tell anybody when you’re going on a show like that and he did keep it really quiet. Jack’s a lovely boy and I think if I was to give him any advice I would have told him not to go on it! He’s such a nice kid, not that the other lads weren’t, but it’s a different bravado. Jack’s more gathered and is more focused on his career than a life in reality TV.
Although your career started in music with Boyzone, you’ve taken part in a few reality shows. Do you see yourself doing more?
In the last year or so I’ve made the active decision to completely exit from the industry, whether that be music or TV. The only thing you’ll see me on is Real Housewives because that is part of our lives and they come into our home and that is all genuine. I happen to be a part of that, but my business life has gone to a whole new level and I’m happy with that.
