“I’ve been travelling around amazing amounts,” she tells us. “It’s a mixture of travelling, not sleeping enough, air con and planes. I need to look after myself a bit better!”
After finding fame on The Voice UK a decade ago, Becky has seen her career skyrocket. The singer – who has collaborated with dance giants including David Guetta and Rudimental – won her first Brit Award earlier this year and boasts five top-10 singles, including a number one.
When we catch up with the 28-year-old – who is loved-up with fiancé Charlie Gardner after getting engaged in the Maldives earlier this year – we quiz her on what life is really like in the villa, from where the Islanders go to smoke to who is her favourite...

Hi, Becky! We loved seeing you perform in the Love Island villa. Who do you want to win?
I really want Indiyah [Polack] to win. I’m not really fussed about Dami [Hope] but I think Indiyah has been really composed and sensible and seems like a lovely, normal girl. I did mouth to her when I was on stage, “I want you to win!” so let’s hope she does.
If you were a contestant, which Islander would you go for?
Probably none of them! My taste in men is definitely not Love Island, unfortunately.
What was it like being in the villa?
It was the most surreal thing in the world. I’ve been really trying to catch up with the episodes as I’ve been away performing and I went in there and was like, “Oh my God, you’re back together! You two aren’t together any more, oh my God you’re back together!” It was very weird but they were all so lovely. The energy was really high and they were nothing but sweet to me. I actually performed for 12 minutes and they showed two or three minutes of it, which was great. I loved every minute of it.

Can you share any secrets? Well, if anybody wants a cigarette they have to go out one by one to this tree outside with a bucket and smoke on their own. I was like, “Wow, really?” That was a fun little fact that I thought was quite interesting. Obviously the producers don’t want to miss any filming and they’re not allowed to be filmed smoking.
You won a Brit Award earlier this year for Best Dance Act. Where does your award live?
It’s pride of place in our lounge on top of my speaker, which is connected up to a vinyl player. That was a beautiful moment and I cried the whole way through it. Recently, I won a Silver Clef Award from Nordoff Robbins, which is a charity that does a lot of work in music therapy, and that award should be on the other speaker, but on the way home from the ceremony my driver put his brakes on too hard and the award came flying out of my bag and broke! I was gutted. So I’m currently awaiting a new one.
