UN PANORAMIQUE NAPOLÉONIEN

Le musée national des châteaux de Malmaison et de Bois-Préau possède un exemplaire complet de la réédition d’un papier peint paysager, de 16 m de long, conçu par la manufacture Dufour et Leroy vers 1829 et nouvellement restauré. Y sont illustrés cinq épisodes victorieux de l’armée française contre les Autrichiens en Italie du Nord en 1796, puis contre les Anglais à Rome et Naples en 1798-1799. Autour de cet exemplaire, documents, objets, peintures, dessins et gravures complètent et développent les séquences évoquées avec plus ou moins de fantaisie étant donnée sa fonction ornementale.
