1. They’re often calmer. “Senior animals tend to be settled into their lives and routines, and they are almost always much calmer,” says Feenan. He adds that, unlike with a puppy or kitten, an older pet’s personality will already be set so you know exactly what you’re getting.
2. They fit into all types of families. Whether you’re an older adult or have young children, a senior pet may be a great fit. For example, Feenan explains that a younger dog may react poorly to having their tail pulled. “An older dog, they’ve been there, done that,” he says. “They tend to react a lot better.”
