Hip mobility or flexibility can affect people at any age and often decline because of a sedentary lifestyle. Why does this matter? “If you’re lacking in flexibility, then your muscles won’t have the power to contract and push you in any direction that you’re trying to go,” explains Ashley Reed, the clinic director of Fyzical Northeast Naples. When people sit too much, “hip flexors are going to become overly tight and our glutes are going to become overly weak, and that creates an imbalance, which then leads down a path of having poor posture,” notes Reed.
