Shucked and Brigadoon to grace Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre

Drew McOnie’s first season as artistic director of Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre brings together the old and the new with two enchanting musicals set in tight-knit communities. The season begins with the highly anticipated UK transfer of Jack O’Brien’s Broadway production of musical comedy Shucked (10 May to 14 June), an irreverent fable about one of America’s top exports: corn. Musicals’ Thom Geier, reviewing the show on Broadway, hailed it as ‘a rare musical comedy which succeeds on both fronts, offering a harvest of tuneful treats and a bumper crop of genuine laughs’. The show stars Sophie McShera (Downton Abbey) as Maizy, Georgina Onuorah (Little Shop of Horrors) as Lulu and Ben Joyce (Back to the Future) as Beau.
