Saab? For most of us, the cars from Sweden's Number Two have been Scandinavian versions of the Checker, cult symbols of the alfalfa sprout people. Most of us haven't been paying attention. Despite the Super Swede's advertising taking on the Simmer, despite lavish praise by automotive writers, despite Saab's Showroom Stock racing successes, we persist in viewing Saab as the builder of jitneys running commuter service between pro-whale and anti-nuke demonstrations.
