THE ECONOMY CAR YOU DON’T HAVE TO APOLOGIZE FOR

It’s a problem we all have to face when deciding on a new commuter car: Do we blow the budget and get something that makes us look and feel good, or must we stick within our means and purchase yet another faceless econobox? Unfortunately for our egos, common sense usually takes over and we end up buying not the twin-turbo V-6 supercoupe, but the high-mpg low-image low-buck sedan. We’ll then spend the next few weeks rationalizing the decision to anyone who’ll listen. “Uh, sure it’s kinda boxy-looking, but you just can’t beat the mileage,” or the seats hurt my back, and it’s miserable to drive, but at least it didn’t cost much.” Great for the bank balance, but not exactly a car you’ll look forward to being in day after day.
