Fantic Motorcycles Come to Canada

You may be forgiven if you’ve never heard of Fantic motorcycles. The bike maker was founded in Barzago, Italy, in 1968, and produced mostly small-displacement two-stroke mini bikes powered by Italian-made Minarelli engines. The company became popular in the 1970s for its reliable mopeds that performed better than the competition (read: they were faster), which really stuck with European teenagers looking for a personal ride. When the demand for mopeds waned, Fantic began making bigger off-road bikes, including motocross, enduro and trials bikes, in 125 and 250 cc displacements. Throughout the 1980s and early ’90s Fantic enjoyed success in the FIM World Trials championship. The company eventually shuttered its doors in 1995.
