After working in the creative industry for 15 years, what made you take the leap to becoming an artist? My first degree and first love was always Textiles. When I graduated, I found that I didn’t have enough experience in marketing my work to do it full-time. I worked in a marketing agency until 2016, when I had saved and had enough freelance clients to take the leap to become self-employed. I set up Hannah Heys Textiles in 2020 and launched my first collection in 2021. It’s always been my dream to work as an artist so, even when I’ve had a full-time job, I’ve been working to make my art a larger part of my life, too.
