HELLO SUMMER 1987 There had been difficulties within [Texas noise rockers] Scratch Acid, and once we got back home to Austin from our final tour, we were like, “OK, we’re done.” I didn’t want to be in a band any more – I didn’t think I was very good at it, and was more interested in visual art. But I’d become friends with Duane [Denison], and he had some songs and asked if I’d play bass on them. I told him, I’m not a very good bass player, you should ask David [Sims, Scratch Acid bassist].
