Continued from p.415 M.E.4751 September 6 The cab The space problem for the cab had really reared its head by now. The aluminium alloy footplate so carefully planned previously had be remade to give some extra width, taking the model up to a full 6 foot 6 inches scale width and the front mounting feet of the cab structure had to sit on the front gearbox mounting feet and be all bolted through together. The cab itself is a riveted structure with the sheets guillotined from 1mm brass sheet and the final shapes marked out and cut with a jewellers’ piercing saw (photo 50).
