I've signed the Back British Holidays petition at this site: W backbritishholidays.co.uk but I wanted to add a few titbits and opinions. In 2014, I bought a new Rapido motorhome. Even though I am a bloke, I started to read the owner's manual. I can't be sure if I got to the end of it, but the first page or two related the story of how French aires came about. In 1972, the French Government couldn't decide if it was a good thing or a bad thing to allow camping cars to stop overnight in towns. It commissioned an independent survey to find out. The survey found that the financial benefits to the town, if camping cars were allowed to stay, outweighed any disadvantages. As a result, the Government passed…
