INTRODUCTION Vehicle-based combat has arguably been a staple of board and wargames since the release of George Miller’s seminal Post-Apocalyptic film Mad Max in 1979. Early games such Steve Jackson’s classic Car Wars (1980) and Games Workshop’s Battlecars (1983) paved the way for a whole glut of car-based gaming, including MB Games Thunder Road (1986) which essentially took the plot of Mad Max 2 and turned it into an innovative combat-based boardgame for seven year olds.
