As usual, there are eight informative colour plates of the uniforms and insignia, plus a useful background commentary on the motives and aims of the French command and the German overlords – by no means always synchronised. However, for wargamers the strength of this book is the extensive account of major and minor operations (albeit without maps), supported by a reasonable description of unit orbats and equipment holdings.
