Miniature wargames that are really miniature

It’s sometimes hard to pinpoint the main draw that pulled us into wargaming. Was it an interest in a certain historical period, a drift over from other table top gaming or simply a fascination with painting and collecting miniature soldiers? Perhaps an older sibling, parent or family friend introduced you to the hobby? Whatever the reason, it’s probably safe to say many of us wargamers are united by the spectacle of large wargame setup. Taking in the sight of a lovingly crafted table complete with massed ranks, gorgeous scenery and bespoke items of terrain is perhaps something we may only see at a gaming convention or special event at the local club.
