Sometimes – particularly at Christmas – it’s easier to order gifts online and forget about the hassle of shopping in the real world. However, there are plenty of reasons to get out and about when making your purchases, especially when it comes to supporting local businesses. Shopping locally not only makes more economic sense, but you’re giving something back to your community too. “Christmas sales can account for between a third and nearly two-thirds of a retailer’s annual turnover,” says retail expert Clare Bailey. “A bad Christmas can mark disaster for a small business.
