Trying to live more mindfully and sustainably in a fast-paced, consumer-led society can be challenging at any time of year, but never more so at Christmas. From the pressure to find and decorate the perfect tree, to demands for the latest toys and gadgets, it can become unmanageable, unsustainable and overwhelming – and before you know it, the real joy of the festive season has been lost. Even the humble Christmas stocking, which used to hold a couple of simple gifts, an orange and some nuts, seems to have spiralled out of control.
