Make a kissing ball

When I was a child, the kissing ball hung from the centre of the living room ceiling. Greenery was wound or tied around two hoops to form a ball and hung with tear-shaped glitter balls, gilded nuts and little apples. From the centre hung the most important item of all – a bunch of mistletoe. Mistletoe was the only thing that couldn’t be found on our own land, much as we tried to propagate it, including putting it out for the birds to eat and drop the seeds in the trees, or squashing the berries into the crooks of branches on likely hosts.
