Each unique in his or her design aesthetic, these students are unafraid of experimentation. COLLECTION NAME: ECDYSIS DESIGNER: SOPHIA TEMPONGKO “My collection revolves around the process of ‘ECDYSIS’ and how it can be related to how alter egos are built under the pressure of perfection,” Tempongko says. “They are created either to compress a whole lot of you or to magnify what you lack. Our alter egos represent our outer cuticle, while our raw selves lay beneath. These tailored suits can be translated as some sort of armor for us, to protect ourselves from the harsh realities that surround us. It presents the wearer as someone who is strong and reliable, which can be seen as our exoskeleton.
