Giants unite on braking

Brembo are looking to boost road safety for all by joining forces with Michelin in a bid to create technical solutions to reduce stopping distances. So far, the venture has focused on the automotive world, but could see a jump to motorcycles in the future. The two brands are already underway with pooling their collective know-how and recently undertook live testing, comparing two vehicles, one equipped with standard ABS, and the other using Brembo's new AI-powered Sensify system and Michelin SmartGrip software – which provides real-time tyre information. From these initial experiments, the Brembo/Michelin partnership has already been able to develop a four-metre stopping distance improvement – roughly the length of a car, with tests carried out on new and used tyres, both in the dry and in the wet.…
