Keynote is the Mac’s premiere presentation app, which has since made its way to the iPad and has a companion app on the iPhone too. But did you know it wasn’t originally intended for public consumption? After Steve Jobs returned to Apple in 1998, he planned to give keynote speeches at the company’s main events. He was keen to use interactive slides, but the only software built for doing so at the time was Microsoft PowerPoint, which was then only available on Windows. Instead, he got his software engineers to build a presentation app from the ground up, which they did. Although it wasn’t intended for sale, Jobs loved it so much he released it as part of the iWork suite.…
