Trenden med å gjenskape fordums storfilmer til TV-serier med en moderne vri har full vind i seilene. Vi har i det siste sett «gjenoppstandelser» av blant annet Clueless, Karate Kid (Cobra Kai), Fatal Attraction og Presumed Innocent. En serieadapsjon av en populær film kan tilføre historien noe nytt og forfriskende, samt utvide det narrative. Nytolkningen av 1999-filmen (ved samme navn) gjør ingen av delene. Her forsøker Prime Video skamløst å skvise ut noen ekstra strømmeminutter på kultfilmens vegne. Premisset, både for filmen og serien, er faktisk basert på den franske 1782-romanen Les Liaisons dangereuses (av Pierre C. de Laclos). En roman som tok for deg det dekadente, amoralske borgerskapet, og dets stadige higen etter egen egoistiske nytelse, lykke og suksess.
