Kulturkonflikt og klassisk maktkamp, i skjønn forening

Med remaken av 1980-tallsserien serverer Disney+ en av årets mest interessante TV-opplevelser.

På 1980-tallet kunne vi se den smått legendariske «hunken» Richard Chamberlain (Tornefuglene) som den erkebritiske sjømannen John Blackthorne, i den sagnomsuste TV-serien Shogun. I 1600 havarerte det nederlandske skipet han var navigatør for utenfor kysten av Japan, og Blackthorne ble tatt til fange av samuraikrigere. Etter en tid i fangenskap ble Blackthorne adskillig mer forståelsesfull (om enn ambivalent) overfor japanerne, og fikk kallenavnet Anjin. Dypt involvert i det føydale Japan, og dets eskalerende politiske maktkamp, ble han en sentral brikke i et farlig spill. Den nye miniserien har Rachel Kondo og Justin Marks som serieskapere, og holder seg, som 1980-serien, ganske så tett til originalromanen.
