Lumix S5IIx er utseendemessig helt likt S5II, bortsett fra at det er helt svart, med mørkegrå skrift for å gi et enda mørkere preg. Med x-modellen kan du lagre i Apple ProRes direkte til minnekortet, hvor S5II krever en ekstern opptaker. Mens kodekene i S5II begrenser bitstrømmen til 200 Mbps, så kan du ta opp inntil 800 Mbps i S5IIx. S5IIx kan dessuten filme i Full HD i høy hastighet opptil 120 bilder i sekundet, med All-Intra-komprimering, som sørger for bedre kvalitet på hver enkelt bilderute Men aller kulest er at du kan filme direkte til en SSD koblet til med USB-C. Som er en rimeligere måte å lagre video på enn høykapasitets SDXC-kort. Kameraet kan filme inntil 6K oppløsning kontinuerlig, så lenge det er strøm og lagringsplass nok.
