Sceglieva mariti potenti, che la viziassero. Ma il suo cuore batteva per i militari: meglio se alti ufficiali

In divisa era stato l’incontro più importante della sua vita: il capitano russo de Maslov «Le piacevano i maschi tutto d’un pezzo, con i baffi, dall’eleganza sobria e rigorosa» Mata Hari amava portare gli uomini a letto, ma amava meno parlarne. Scriveva lettere su lettere, diari su diari, conquistava e abbandonava, ma dell'archetipo maschile che prediligeva, delle caratteristiche che la facevano diventare pazza, mai una parola. O quasi: «Tra le lettere si trova solo una frase», dice Yves Rocourt, curatore di “Mata Hari: the myth and the maiden”, la grande mostra organizzata al Fries Museum di Leeuwarden (sua città natale) a cent'anni dalla fucilazione avvenuta il 15 ottobre del 1917.
