L’action, le mystère, le rythme, les personnages auxquels on s’attache, rien ne manque dans ces quelque 500 pages qu’on termine le temps d’un week-end pluvieux. Le tout assorti d’un présupposé de départ qui renouvelle totalement le genre. L’aventure se déroule, en effet, dans le monde impitoyable des tueurs à gages à stature internationale, où 17 – clin d’œil (presque trop) évident à 007 – remplace 16 en le tuant et où lui-même peut du jour au lendemain être éliminé par 18. L’agent Seventeen est donc en mission à Berlin pour occire un vieil homme. A peine a-t-il atteint sa cible qu’on l’envoie…
