En 1959, Mido introduisait une boîte monocoque dans sa collection Ocean Star. Une nouvelle forme de montre qui avait l’avantage d’éliminer tout problème d’étanchéité lié au fond de boîte. Cette technologie était combinée avec un joint de couronne en liège, accentuant la résistance des montres dans les conditions les plus rudes. Ainsi est née la ligne Commander, encore produite aujourd’hui et que Mido a choisi de rééditer dans une version fidèle à l’originale, tout en l’équipant du calibre 80, un mouvement automatique plus sophistiqué que celui des premiers modèles. La collection actuelle Commander 1959 est dotée d’une boîte monocoque ronde en acier poli, avec ou sans traitement PVD or jaune, cadran soleillé argent ou couleur champagne.…
