Clémens Ghys ressuscite le mythique immeuble new-yorkais, et avec lui une pléiade d’artistes.

LIVRES Mark Rothko, William Burroughs parmi les résidents. John Cage, Merce Cunningham, Andy Warhol, Diane Arbus, Richard Avedon parmi les invités. Mais trêve de noms ! Le Passant du Bowery, l’enquête que Clément Ghys consacre à cet immeuble mythique du 222 Bowery à New York, vaut bien mieux qu’un name-dropping. Certains immeubles sont dotés d’une histoire assez riche pour qu’on en pousse chaque porte. À New York, il n’y eut donc pas que la Factory, le célèbre terrier d’Andy Warhol et de ses Superstars. Il y eut aussi ce Bowery que Warhol, jaloux comme un pou, tenta d’ailleurs de racheter en 1967.
