PERRY HOWARD, FASLA
The 54th winner of ASLA’s highest honor, Perry Howard, FASLA, has had a profound influence on the field, breaking barriers and nurturing generations of future landscape architects. Since he began his career in the 1970s, Howard has served as both mentor and advocate, developing the landscape architecture program of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, the only HBCU with an undergraduate landscape architecture program. In 2008, Howard served as ASLA’s president, the first African American to serve in the role, and he was awarded the ASLA President’s Medal in 2012.
