PROJECT Somerville Pollinator Action Plan LOCATION Somerville, Massachusetts FIRMS Offshoots Inc. and City of Somerville Division of Public Space & Urban Forestry Launched in October 2024, the Somerville Pollinator Action Plan is a multiyear collaboration between landscape architects with the City of Somerville’s Division of Public Space & Urban Forestry; Offshoots, Inc., a Charlestown, Massachusetts-based landscape architecture firm; Dr. Nicholas Dorian, the consulting scientist and co-founder of the Tufts Pollinator Initiative; community engagement experts at Conditioning Leaders; and Somerville’s Pollinator Action Plan Advisory Committee, a dedicated group of community members and city staff. First, the team analyzed citizen science and academic research to create a comprehensive inventory of the pollinators found in Somerville—some 300 documented species.
