9 Tips for Tree Removal and Preservation

1 Communicate with stakeholders. Start the process by communicating with stakeholders, including residents and local government, to educate them on key subjects such as tree health, disease identification, and the need for a professional diagnosis that leads to the final recommendation for tree removal. 2 Remove only unhealthy trees. This may seem obvious, but some townships do not have arborists or landscape architects on staff to make proper assessments of problem trees. A resident wanting a tree removed is a far different concern than a tree that must come down for the health, safety, and well-being of the public. 3 Make cost-based decisions first.
