Newman Cigar Company, a legacy family-owned business, was a small space that demanded stormwater management. As with most sites in Florida, groundwater capture and infiltration was a major concern, and David Conner, ASLA, the president of Tampa, Florida-based Conner Landscape Architects, needed a responsive design approach. The solution was a stormwater swale filled with hardy native Spartina, which thrives in humid environments and can act as a pond, but can also withstand arid conditions.
