The close of an issue has many parallels to the close of the year, when there is a felt requirement to look back and ask how this body of work reflects us back to ourselves. Did our actions add up to who and what we believe ourselves to be? In more depleted moments, maybe there is a suspicion that some of our efforts haven’t landed, that big ideas and aspirations that felt exciting at their birth didn’t quite total up to much. Alternatively, we can be surprised to look back at some accomplishments and think, that turned out pretty damn good.
