Allow me to start by wishing ASLA a very happy 125th anniversary! There’s no better way to mark this momentous milestone than to launch ASLA Spotlight, a new quarterly publication by members, for members. In this issue and those to come, we will be putting the focus on our members and the impressive work they’re doing each and every day. We’ll be sharing personal stories of thoughtful, aesthetically excellent design, but also insights into how our members are tackling societal and systemic challenges. In my recent travels to visit ASLA chapters and speak at universities—giving the graduation address at my alma mater Ball State was a proud full-circle moment for me—I have been impressed and lifted up by the quality of work I’ve seen.
