PUBLIC ART Apermanent installation by the sculptor Larry Bell has brought cohesion to North Carolina State University’s 40-year-old Centennial Campus. Created by Bell in collaboration with Mark Hoversten, FASLA, the dean of the College of Design and a landscape architecture professor; the university landscape architect Thomas Skolnicki; and Design Workshop’s Emily McCoy, FASLA; Reds and Whites establishes a symbolic connection between the university’s two campuses by aligning the center line of the sculpture and the plaza it occupies with the Memorial Belltower on the original campus. The work is composed of large-scale glass cubes and triangles ranging in size from six to eight feet in a mix of NC State’s colors.
