Die beleërde wintergraanbedryf maak gereed vir groot veranderinge in 2025, soos meer kanola, die eerste GM koringproewe en hopelik ’n vinniger afkondiging van die koringinvoertarief.

Daar is min wintergraanboere wat weer ’n jaar soos 2024 sal wil beleef. Eers was die reën laat, toe val te veel op die verkeerde tyd en toe kom skadelike koue in die laatwinter. Genoeg van die regte kanolasaad was wéér nie betyds beskikbaar nie en ná oestyd het groot volumes koring nie die gehalteriglyne gehaal nie, terwyl baie gars se stikstof te laag was. Asof dit nie genoeg swaarkry vir een jaar was nie, bly die koringprys laag. Goeie nuus is skaars, maar boere in die Overberg en Suid-Kaap het meestal baie goeie kanola-oeste behaal en hierdie jong bedryf oortref vanjaar weer vorige oesrekords.
